Edinburgh

This blog post is going to be about the main tourist attractions I would recommend if you are visiting Edinburgh for a day or two. But if you do happen to be spending more time than that in Edinburgh don't worry there are many more tourist attractions for you to visit in the city.

Edinburgh Castle

The first I will talk about is Edinburgh castle, this is probably the most famous tourist attraction in Edinburgh, the historic castle sit at the top of castle hill right in the centre of Edinburgh giving you a great view of the city, the castle has a number of tours throughout the day that can last between 1-3 hours depending on the tour that will tell you all about the castle and its history. You will want to make sure you are at the castle for the 1 o'clock gun exhibition. the castle is also host to many event throughout the year at different holidays.

Arthur's seat

the second place I would recommend is Arthur's seat, which is located in Holyrood park is the largest of the fur hills that are in the park and would take you around 45 minutes to climb. Once your up there you can see the whole city of Edinburgh, its a truly wonderful view. A fun fact about Arthur's seat is that it is an extinct volcano. the best part about it is its free so it will only cost you time.

Dynamic earth

Another great place to visit especially if you travelling with kids is Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh's science museum and planetarium. dynamic earth offers a educative tour though time from the big bang to the modern day all in about 90 minutes. Dynamic earth is located just next to Holyrood park meaning its a great stop on your way to Arthur seat.

Edinburgh zoo

Edinburgh zoo is another great place to visit during your time in Edinburgh. Unfortunately Edinburgh zoo no longer has its two iconic giant pandas as they had to return home to china in december last year, they still have many other animals for you to meet. including tigers, giraffes and penguins the world only knighted penguin Major General Sir Nils Olav. If you are planning to visit the zoo make sure check what times events are on as some animals can only bee seen at certain times of the day, and other events such as the penguin parade. If you don't have the time to visit the zoo they do have live cams were you see what the animals are up to on there website but obviously it is as good as seeing it in person.
